I think you have missed why the GOP candidates have remained silent about Mr. Trump's insults of immigrants. In order to win the nomination, they have to win the white make racist vote. Trump's statements were red meat for that voting block.

I don't believe what Iceland did was unorthodox as stated. They did pretty much what Sweden did during their banking crisis 20 years ago and what economists like Paul Krugman have been advocating all along.
